Finding Self-Compassion...

Recently I have been realizing how important self-compassion is for my personal healing process. I was thinking and still continue to think about the question, Do I love myself and treat myself with compassion. And I quickly realized the answer is no.

So let's work on it...

I mean what is self-compassion anyway?

I guess it is being compassionate/kind to yourself. But how do I do that? How do I live my daily life with self-compassion? I feel that I have treated myself with so much self-hatred and self-abuse that it is going to be hard to change the habits of my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors towards myself.

Where do I start?

Well, I guess I can start anywhere the hard thing is actually starting and keeping myself accountable and continuing to practice self-compassion.

So I'm just gonna pick a place to start.

I think I will start with my physical body so I can see the progress physically and it will motivate me to continue. I've been 4 weeks clean from self-harm now. Which is kind of a big deal for me.

That is treating myself with self-compassion. By not hurting my body even though that is what I want to do, I am showing compassion towards my skin.

What are some other ways I can physically practice self-compassion?

I can practice my hygiene is a good one.

Taking care of my teeth and my hair.

Cleaning my body and my skin.

Mental health and physical health can be very much connected.

practicing hygiene is showing compassion towards my body.

It is showing compassion by taking care of what is keeping me alive. and being grateful for all that I have and am able to do with this body of mine. It is showing compassion for my body that can move, that can think, and that can speak, and do good things for the world


Now let's get to the mental part of this. how do I believe that I deserve self-compassion and love?

I'm gonna take a guess on how I would do that. I would need to keep telling myself affirmations that are or are similar to "I deserve to have love towards myself." "I deserve self-love and love from others."


So that is what I am going to do....
